"KL International Tower Jump 2001"

On February 1st, 2001, The US organizational team, The International Pro BASE Circuit (IPBC) in conjunction with the Asian CD Advertising group will gather the world's top BASE jumpers for a full day of BASE jumping during the "KL International Tower Jump 2001".

BASE is an acronym that stands for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth and is the sport of jumping fixed objects from low altitudes. The IPBC specializes in BASE jumping events in the US, and has been hosting competitions since 1992 around the country, including the 250,000 spectator driven "Bridge Day Championships" in West Virginia. Now the IPBC plans to document the unique sport of BASE jumping with it's own production team of highly experienced jumpers and cameramen promising a rare insiders glimpse of this high-speed and very extreme sport. The IPBC plans to sell the footage world-wide. Exiting from approximately the 300 meter (984 feet) platform, jumpers have eight to ten seconds to impact using only a one parachute system made exclusively for low altitude jumping. Jumpers will reach close to 100 MPH before opening their parachutes and are expected to make over 400 jumps during the one-day event.

The KL Tower, also known as the "Jewel of the Sky" stands at 421 meters (1,381 ft). Built to enhance the quality of telecommunications, it's the fourth tallest freestanding tower in the world and the tallest in South-East Asia.

February 2nd update.....434 BASE jumps yesterday!
Dennis McGlynn, Camera Team Manager and IPBC Technical Director believes the event was a big step forward for the sport of BASE, and that the footage the team captured was some of the most awesome and diverse point of view shots to date of BASE.

The IPBC camera team consisted of: Dennis McGlynn, Harry Parker, John Huffman, Jesse Kaltenbach, Alexis Zeisler, Avery Badenhop, Jerri Badenhop, and Brian Stamm.
