The Galápagos Islands look downright stunning from low-Earth orbit.
The volcanic islands are famous for their uncanny number of endemic species, many of which Charles Darwin studied during the voyage of the Beagle. These observations would help the famed naturalist formulate his theory of evolution by natural selection.
The photo was captured a few days ago by Commander Chris Hadfield
from aboard the International Space Station. We can't help but wonder
how Darwin would react if he'd known his muse would later be
photographed from the heavens.
