Taman Mahsuri Residents' Association's Maulidur Rasul celebrations

ALOR STAR: IF there ever was a group of people who truly embraced the 1Malaysia concept, it would be the residents of Taman Mahsuri in Jitra.

Regardless of the event, be it cultural or religious they have always celebrated it together.
One such example was the recent birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
Some 1,500 residents, both Muslims and non-Muslims, took part in the Taman Mahsuri Residents' Association's Maulidur Rasul celebrations.
The event, organised by the housing estate's Rukun Tetangga sector, started with a parade.
In a show of unity and respect for one another's faith, both the Muslim and non-Muslim residents of the housing estate took part in the kilometre-long walk.
One of the residents, A. Krishnan said that his family always enjoyed such events where all the residents would get involved.
"This is not the first time we have taken part in an event like this.
"We also celebrated Chinese New Year and Deepavali in a similar way," he said.
For the sector's president Ahmad Shakir Ahmad, the event and similar celebrations held for the residents, was aimed at fostering goodwill and respect.
"We also want our children to understand and appreciate how their parents can live together harmoniously," he said.
